Set to the proportion indicated on the layout, the instrument can be used on the camera ground glass to insure that the finished transparency or print will be the exact proportion and composition. After the picture is taken the scaleograph enables the photographer or artist to get the most out of the photograph by trying all possible compositions without having to figure a proportion computation for each.
